Fernanda Pereira

Co-President

Fernanda is entering her fourth year of the Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering dual degree program. She has been involved with the WiE club since her first year at Western and is grateful for its motivating community which she has been able to grow alongside of. Fernanda is currently in a technology consulting internship, where she’s also discovered a passion for sustainability. One of her aspirations is to work in the development and personalization of medical devices.

Maddy Gander

Co-President

Maddy is in her third year of a Software Engineering and Ivey Business Dual Degree. Her favourite part of WiE is working with the executive team and meeting strong female mentors, from who she has learned a lot. She loves being actively involved in the Women in Engineering community and is grateful for the friends and mentors she has met through the club. Maddy is a Diamond-level Figure Skater & Ice Dancer and loves to paint in her spare time! In the future, Maddy hopes to work abroad and is passionate about incorporating her love of art and design into her career.

Rakhee Patel

Social Director

Rakhee is in her third year pursuing a Business and Mechanical Engineering dual degree. Her favourite part of WiE is meeting new people and being a part of the supportive and empowering community. A fun fact about Rakhee is that she loves plants but can’t seem to keep them alive. In the future, she hopes to work on innovative projects around the world.

Lara El-Aloul

Communications Director

Lara is currently in her second year of software engineering at Western. Her favourite part about WiE is having the space to work towards dissolving gender-related barriers to inspire the next generation of women interested in engineering. She also really appreciates the strong network of support that thrives in the WiE community. In her spare time, Lara takes up filmography and photography. With a passion for usability and innovation, Lara hopes to incorporate those values in her future career as a Software Engineer.

Cassandra Wild

Cassandra is in her fourth year of mechanical engineering and business. Her favourite part about being a part of WiE is getting to know such a welcoming community of intelligent women. A fun fact about Cassandra is that she went to high school for visual arts, so a career goal of Cassandra’s is to combine this with engineering and work in product design/development.

Abby is in her HBA1 year and is completing a Civil Engineering & Business dual degree. Her favourite part about WiE is the community it fosters and meeting cool people at club events. In her free time, Abby loves to travel and spend time outdoors. One of her career aspirations is to work on an infrastructure project abroad.

Catherine Tse

Outreach Director

Catherine Tse is in her second year of Mechatronics Systems Engineering. She enjoys how WiE offers members like her an opportunity to meet and learn from a community of like-minded individuals. Catherine enjoys travelling the world to discover new foods and cultures. She hopes to work in product development where she can use her knowledge and skills to positively impact others in the future.

Delaney McLachlan

Mentorship Director

Delaney is in her second year of software engineering at Western University. Her favourite part of Women in Engineering has been participating in the ‘Big Sister Little Sister’ program as she found the mentorship aspect to be beneficial in her first year of university and enjoyed the sister events like the scavenger hunt and fall photo contest. She is excited to be helping facilitate the mentorship program this year and act as a big sister for the first time! In her free time, Delaney is thrifting and sewing and aspires to go on student exchange!

Stefanie Aleksanderek

Development Director


Stefani will be going into her last year of a dual major of electrical engineering and computer science. Within electrical, she is one of the last students to to be completing a biomedical signals and systems specialization. Stefani enjoys hiking and a variety of sports and outdoor activities that keep her moving! Stefani is currently working towards completing the Spartan Race Trifecta, and has one more race (21 km) left to go!
