Avery is in her fourth year of Civil-Structural Engineering with a focus on International Development. Avery has been involved in Women in Engineering since her first year and admires the community that is built around it. She loves seeing the members build their confidence through all the club initiatives. Avery is passionate about traveling and uses it to learn about different cultures and their identities. One of her aspirations is to work in underdeveloped communities to help increase their quality of life.

Bailey Thompson is in her final year of Electrical Engineering and is also completing a certificate of Engineering Leadership and Innovation. Her favourite part of being involved with the WiE club is the mentor and mentee dynamic that extends throughout the club. Everyone is able to share their knowledge, as well as learn from others, and become friends in the process! A fun fact about Bailey is that she is from BC and loves to go hiking! She is also currently completing a controls engineering co-op and has discovered her interest in PLCs, robots, and autonomous vehicles, which she hopes to continue to explore after graduation.

Fernanda is entering her third year of the Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering dual degree program. The thing she enjoys most about being a part of WiE is its open and inviting environment within which she can pursue her interests in the field of engineering with like-minded and driven individuals. A fun fact about Fernanda is that she was born in Brazil! In the future, she hopes to obtain an MBA degree with the ambition of combining her fascinations of both Business and Engineering.

Maddy is in her second year of Software Engineering. Her favourite part of WiE is working with the executive team and meeting strong female mentors, from who she has learned a lot. She loves being actively involved in the Women in Engineering community and is grateful for the friends she has met through the club. Maddy is a Diamond-level Figure Skater & Ice Dancer and loves to paint in her spare time! In the future, Maddy hopes to work in Project Development as a Consultant and is passionate about incorporating her love of art and design into her career.

Devon is in her third year of Mechatronic Systems Engineering. She is inspired by the engaging and supportive environment of WiE and appreciates learning from the interactions with like-minded women. Devon enjoys staying active, is a retired gymnast and coach, and has a strong love for dogs! She is currently working in the rollout of an expansion and aspires to continue her involvement in special projects with tangible deliverables.

Abbey is in her fifth year of Electical Engineering with Long-Term Co-op. Her favourite thing about WiE is the club’s involvement in Outreach programs for female highschool students. These programs are vital to the diversification of the Engineering community. During quarantine, Abbey has been learning to crochet when she has spare time. Abbey’s future career aspiration is to work in Power System Protection and Reliability.
